Heading to Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area today, we saw the following along
the way - US 33 E; OH385; OH 235; OH 67 and at KPWA:
Redtail Hawks - 10
A Kestrel - 2
The Quarry is frozen over, so no one was "home"
Coopers Hawk - 2
N Flicker - 2
RED HEADED WOODPECKER 1 (another for "my list")
Blue Jays - 3
N Cardinal 3
Hairy WP 1 (Another for the "famous" list)
Tree SP at least 6
N Harrier - Both Male & Female 3
Field Sparrows 6
Tufted Titmouse (#45)
Downy WP
Horned Larks Flocks of 5-30 all along the way!
Mourning Doves 6
Rock Doves 30
Bald Eagle 1 adult working on the nest!!
A Crows - 6
The squirrels were all over Killdeer! Hardly moved out of the middle of the
road!
An old Hornet's nest (broken at the bottom)
And along the "eagle/goose tub" pond there is a wonderful HUGE tree! big
around with limbs jutting out !! Oh, to get this photo!
At what our son calls The Prairie there were at least 250 deer!
Do I have to admit that we also saw Starlings??
The Round Barn was beautiful in the sunset! Sure wish I could get inside!
And take some close-up photos!
