Hi Everyone,
My husband and I were just at Dock 2 at Burr Oak Lake in southern Morgan
County (southeastern Ohio). A mature bald eagle was skimming the water
there before soaring up higher. He (or she) then proceeded to circle
giving us great views thru the binoculars. First one I have seen in
over a year.
I also have a screech owl that has been in the door of the owl box for
the last 2 weeks except for 2 or 3 times. For years I had them nest in
the old box before it fell apart so am hoping that once again after a
year and a new box, that they are nesting here.
Other birds in our neck of the woods:
goldfinches 30+
towhees 1male and 1 female (all winter)
Carolina wrens 2 (also all winter)
Phoebe first of the year heard today
Woodpeckers:
Red Bellied
Hairy
Downy
Flicker
Pileated
Blue Jays
Blue Birds
Robins
Titmice
Chickadees
White breasted Nuthatch
Crows - many
Red Winged Black Birds
Starlings
Grackles
Cardinals
Killdeer - heard first yesterday
Mourning Doves
Juncos
We are in the woods with ponds all around us. Makes for alot of
different types of birds.
