My first check of the Hardin Co. wetlands this afternoon for the winter bird atlas turned up quite a few surprises. The complete list is as follows:  

Snow Goose   22  9 white, 13 blue
Cackling Goose   3
Canada Goose   2,720
Am. Wigeon   4
Am. Black Duck   88
Mallard   512
N. Pintail   47
AMERICAN BITTERN   1  flushed close twice, seemed in good health.

WILSON'S SNIPE   1

Downy Woodpecker   2
