After yet another failed attempt (attempt #6) to turn up an American Avocet
at Conneaut (though we did see 2 Baird's Sandpipers), I and a friend decided
to stop by Mosquito Creek WA in Trumbull on the way home.
This was a good decision ; )
The shorebird habitat there is vast, with hundreds of birds visible from
Hoagland-Blackstub Rd. The highlight was by far one MARBLED GODWIT feeding
amongst the numerous yellowlegs. It was there at our arrival around 1:30
and remained when we left around 3. Awesome encounter.
till next time,
John G Petruzzi
