Since reading the description of Smith's Longspur habitat, I have been watching 
for open fields with foxtail.  Yesterday I noticed just such a field and went 
back today to check it out.  There were a few Horned Larks, Killdeer, and 
Pipits but no Longspurs.  I did, however, find a single Upland Sandpiper.  
Always a good OH bird for me. From what I read they are right on time. The field 
is located 2 miles east of Urbana about a half mile south of Route 29.  It is a 
40 acre field (my guess) with Three Mile Road on the east and Sloan Rd. on the 
South.  The field may be too rolling for Longspurs but I will keep looking.

Hope we find some Longspurs
