Today I did some sky watching from the backyard here in Poland Twp., Mahoning Co.  I live right beside the Mahoning R. valley, it's a decent spot to try for migrants locally.  Spotted were turkey vultures, 1 bald eagle, Cooper's hawks, 4 sharp-shinned hawks, red-shouldered hawk, and red-tailed hawk.  Some of these were probably resident birds, but the eagle and the sharpies were migrating.  My feeder birds were not so happy as some accipiters were fairly low when they passed over.  The action tailed off in the afternoon which was OK since 4 purple finches showed up at the feeders then.  A walk out back in the woods and fields didn't turn up any new passerines.  Craig Holt
