April 10, 2011 Birding:
Char-Mar Ridge Preserve
Miller-Paul Road
HNP Area M
A walk around the trail at Char-Mar Ridge Preserve was highlighted by a
cooperative Barred Owl. Later on the drive Char-Mar to the Hoover Nature
Preserve I went over to Miller-Paul Road to check a home with new Purple Martin
houses. I was rewarded with about 30 Purple Martins on and around the
houses. At Area M of the Hoover Nature Preserve the Osprey were putting on a
show at the nest platform. Yellow-throated Warblers are present and seem to
be establishing territories. The list of species by area follows.
