Late Friday afternoon, Katrina Heinzen and I discovered a Pine Warbler in a stand of tall white pines at Orchard Hills park in Chester Township, Geauga County. The bird foraged in the white pines in the company of Chickadees and a Brown Creeper. This former golf course (now a Geauga Park District property) has quite a few windbreaks of large white pines.
The bird was found at the far end of the golf course fairways in a stand of pines near the back pond. I hope to relocate it and get photos when my work schedule will permit.
Orchard Hills is located on Caves Road north of Wilson Mills and is a little west of 306. It is directly behind Patterson's Fruit Farm. More information on the park can be found on the Geauga Park District web site.
