A dozen of us had a memorable day at Conneaut today. Weather was perfect and
raptors were moving. Three best results:
1) First ever Black Vulture for this hawkwatch site
2) Beautiful dark-phase Red-tailed Hawk
3) 381 Red-shouldered Hawks (our old record was 170)
Also, 1060 Turkey Vultures, 280 Red-tailed Hawks, 14 Rough-legged Hawks, 7 Bald
Eagles, 8 N. Harriers, 23 Cooper's Hawks, 22 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 14 Am.
Kestrels and 3 Merlins, plus 2 possible Peregrine Falcons
Would love to see totals from Maumee Bay if a hawkwatch was conducted there
today...
