There was a Nelson’s Sparrow at the mitigation bank this morning. Seen at close range (less than 10 feet), the orange face, gray cheek and plain gray nape were seen along with the plain dark crown stripe. Though seen well, the look was brief and I and several other birders tried unsuccessfully to relocate the bird.
