I tagged along on an Ohio Lepidopterists trip to this Clark County park between Springfield & Dayton (as well as nearby Siebenthaler Fen), and was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of birdlife. Included among the highlights at Leadingham were:

Bell's Vireo - 1 was singing along the north (back margin of the prairie, next to the wetland
Dickcissels - at least 2 were singing in the first old field behind the old farm
Bald Eagle - an adult flew by along the Mad River near the parking area at the intersection of Spangler & Union Rds
Green Herons - at least 2 were flying around between the wetland and a pond in the middle of the prairie
Orchard orioles - at least 3 were singing around the margins of the prairie

The prairie is a large old farm field that has several concentric trails of perhaps 1.5 miles that loop out into it. This spot bears some watching as the summer wears on. The habitat should be good for Sedge Wrens, and who knows what else might turn up.

We didn't get to Siebenthaler until the afternoon, so the birdlist there was not very expansive, but had plenty of expected wetland birds. We also found 2-3 Baltimore Checkerspot butterflies, and quite a few Eyed Browns.
