While checking some areas around the east side of Columbus this morning, I stopped at the old Night Heron roost area at Confluence Park. There, in trees along the south shore (opposite the Boathouse Restaurant) were 14 adult Black-crowned Night Herons, perched along in the shrubs like crazy black&white ornaments. These are likely the group that had been at OSU, before the river re-construction drove them off. How long they've been here is unknown, but it's no longer than a month, since I found only 2 here for the CBC back in mid-December.
