There was a decent hawk flight today (4/1) at my house in North Perry,
Lake County. The birds did not start until about 12:45 and continued
till a little after 3:00. The best bird was a single black vulture.
That was with a small group of turkey vultures. Although it was pretty
high and moving fast, I was able to get a decent photo of it. There
were quite a few tree swallows also moving today. I was able to pick
out a single northern rough-winged swallow. Other migrants of note were
American pipit and two pine siskins. Earlier in the morning there were
several hundred American robins and lesser numbers of blackbirds.
Here is a list of hawks ands vultures that passed over:
BLACK VULTURE 1
Turkey vulture 328
Osprey 2
Bald eagle 1 adult
Cooper's hawk 4
Sharp-shinned hawk 6
Red-shouldered hawk 6
Red-tailed hawk 31
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK 1
MERLIN 1
American kestrel 8
