Sunday morning--9 to 10 a.m.
We observed 2 bald eagles looking out over the south end of the "lake"
from the first parking area. The adult appeared to be a fourth-year and the
other was an immature.
Rick Asamoto was checking out the shorebirds at the north end of the lake,
and he shared his shorebird sightings with us. Since he was posting to
E-bird, we're sending his report on the species seen.
Spotted sp
Least sp
Pectoral sp
Semi-palmated sp
Lesser yellowlegs
Great egrets
Great blue herons
DC cormorants
Wood ducks
It has also been a great year for green herons and belted kingfishers.
They are easily viewed at the north end of the lake. Another treat has been
the appearance of a red-shouldered hawk at the north end of the lake. It
usually sits in full view on a dead branch on a tree located on the island
to the north as you're looking west.
Happy birding,
Ed and Bev Neubauer, Eileen Roberts, Lee Reed, Bessie Reel, Daryl & Joanie
Reel
