I was at the Hoover Boardwalk today, and looking for the snowy egret. But what I saw with others was an immature little blue heron. Pale yellow-gray legs and feet, beak was like a little blue heron. But the bird appeared to be entirely white. It was hanging out with ring-billed gulls off the end of the board walk.
Also saw many killdeer, a couple of pectoral sandpipers, maybe 4 stilt sandpipers (identified by others). Many semi-palmated plovers, maybe a leas sandpiper, and maybe a Baird's. There were several birders, all seeing various birds. But the white wading bird we saw was not the snowy egret. That would have been additional fun.
