Greetings everyone.

Just a HOPEFULLY helpful suggestion to all that are sending links to web
albums out there.

Apparently the listserv or email programs (and someone please correct me
if I'm wrong) will break a link up if it is over 75 characters long. So
when creating a link, please try to keep it under that size. This will
prevent the broken links that sometimes pop up from time to time.

The big culprit is usually folder names. So try to keep your sharing
folder name simple like "OhioBirds2010".

Another really great source that I just remembered, for those that post
links that don't want to shrink, or can't shrink them down, is to use
the FREE services provided by www.tinyurl.com . The sole purpose of
the website is to make big links tiny. So for example on one of my
latest posts about the Bobolinks here in Larue, I referenced a set of
coordinates for GPS. The 224 character link to those coordinates on
Google maps is:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=40.560000,+-83.395000&sll=40.417287,-82.907123&sspn=0.030255,0.084543&gl=us&g=40.560,+-83.395&ie=UTF8&ll=40.560708,-83.394985&spn=0.003774,0.010568&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A

That link "SHOULD" be broken to some if not everyone.
I went to tinyurl.com and pasted that link into the box, and they gave
me this 26 character link: http://tinyurl.com/3y9xsrk . It really does
work. With some browsers, you might be asked if you want to redirect,
just click yes.

That's about it.

Have a great day!

Steve Jones
