Had a quick hour to spend at Sandy Ridge Metropark in Lorain County yesterday and highlights included the following:

Bald Eagle
Red-shouldered Hawk
Northern Harrier (sitting in the fields ajacent to the drive road in to the park)
Red-headed Woodpecker
Blue-winged Teal (3)
Pied-billed Grebe (2)
Great Egret (2)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (1)
Yellow-rumped Warbler * (~8)
Palm Warbler (3)
Eastern Phoebe
Tree Swallow (many)

* a man and woman birding the trails told me they had seen an Audubon's Warbler moments before I arrived. They were unable to relocate the bird. The gentleman claimed to have clearly seen the bright yellow throat.

My brother and I are planning to travel to Shawnee SF to bird next weekend. We've never been there before and would welcome recommendations for worthwhile routes in the Forest to maximize our birding. We're focusing on the southern specialties but not to the exclusion of other migrants and resident species. We'd appreciate any experienced advice. Please send privately to [log in to unmask] Thank you.

Good birding.
