BSBO received a message this morning from East Harbor State Park. Our
friend Chris wrote: I would like to let my friends at BSBO know that the
lake level is low and that at East Harbor State Park there are many sand
bars exposed. These sand bars are covered with gulls, terns, and shorebirds

heard a "peep" from anyone on the listserv about shorebirds at East Harbor
State Park, I thought I'd pass this along! (Kenn will be proud of my bird

I commend Haans for having the courage to ignore PC in this situation and
"tell it like it is." All he is asking is that these organizations simply
come out publicly against Scotts -- the company that has long led the
charge for sterile, wildlife-deadly lawns grown with (highly profitable)
pesticides and chemical fertilizers -- and recommend a boycott of their products.
This would not take away valuable resources from these orgs unquestionably
important projects. I must add that it is stunning that Scott's had the
gall to market bird feed to attract birds to yards that they have been
poisoning and then sell pesticide-contaminated feed to boot.

Good birding.
