This morning I birded Blendon Woods Metro Park in northeast Columbus. On the
lake there were seven Gadwall, one American Coot, several American Black
Ducks, a few Wood Ducks and two juvenile Scaup. I am unsure which species of
Scaup since they were sleeping and never extended their wings. From the head
shape I thought they were Greater Scaup, but I couldn't be sure.
Around noon I visited the southern portion of Hoover Reservoir. I found
about thirty American Coots and five Horned Grebes. All were seen from the
Walnut Street access.
