I took a hike in Bedford Reservation (Cuyahoga County) this morning in the trails above Hermit's Hollow (west of Overlook Lane). I was hoping for some Hooded Warblers because this area has been good for them and for thrushes in the past. A short distance down the trail I met a male Barred Owl perched in a tree. The owl let out some long "whoooooooos" before flying into the woods. Very cool!
Later I checked the paved Alexander Road bike path to Sagamore Road and heard another Barred Owl calling across the field in the woods to the west.
