Looks like the AOU Committee will be making a decision re a proposed
lumping of hoary and common redpolls. The new rationale is pretty
technical, but many ordinary observers--yours truly, for example--have
always wondered where one species ends and the other one begins. Some
new data support merging of these two 'species,' and a decision on them

We in the lay audience will find out soon enough if the lump's accepted.
