At twilight today and also on Tuesday, I saw a black-crowned night heron on
the northeast side of Cranberry Bog. Today it was feeding and Tuesday it
was about a yard up on a dead bush or tree.
Also thirteen great egrets flew into roost at the bog- one remained
motionless in the air for a few seconds with the setting sun shining behind
its wings- awesome!
We also saw maybe thirty or more green herons in Maple Bay and on our
return most of them flew by us seemingly headed for the bog.
Finally also saw 4 wood ducks, numerous mallards and kingbirds, several
GBH, 4 cormorants, lots of swallows, and a kingfisher.
