On an after the fact note to Greg Miller's apparently oiled gulls; at the Conneaut Sandspit last Saturday, we had a Bonaparte's Gull whose chest and lower body were completely black. The gull while at rest, was constantly trying, to what looked like an unsuccessful attempt, to remove whatever was on it's chest.
