This morning it really felt like spring at our farm in Union County. The highlight was a drake Ring-necked Duck, species number 135 for our property list, looking quite handsome floating on our pond. There was a lot of bird song and activity in general, and as soon as we started driving toward Columbus we began seeing birds. A Great Blue Heron was flying south, and we saw a couple of harriers and two Turkey Vultures (the latter along US33 between Marysville and Columbus), seems like some things are starting to move.
I was able to get a passable picture of the Ring-necked Duck despite the overcast conditions:
