While atlassing this morning at the Longbrake wetlands this morning, I discovered a few birds that I have to keep a special eye on for possible nesting opportunities. They included the following:
Lesser Scaup 1 female no males seen, probably just a late migrant.
Ruddy Duck 5 3 males and 2 females. Males are going through courtship.
Wilson's Snipe 1 seems late for a migrant, possible nester here last year with no confirmation.
Confirmed nesters and other sightings:
Canada Goose 77 about half were goslings of all different ages
Wood Duck 39 1 brood of 3, another younger brood of 12
Blue Winged Teal 19
Pied Billed Grebe 5
Green Heron 1
Am. Coot 41
Semipalmated Plover 16
Killdeer 34
Greater Yellowlegs 1
Spotted Sandpiper 16
