Spent two very pleasant mornings at Spring Valley this weekend.
Migration has begun to pick up slightly with my first-of-year Palm
Warbler (1), Swamp Sparrow (2), Virginia Rail (flushed from under the
boardwalk) and Sora on Saturday, and my first-of-year Yellow-throated
Warbler singing from the sycamores at the south end of the lake on
Sunday.
Another birder reported possibly hearing Marsh Wren along the
boardwalk, but the Red-wings are so raucous it's hard to pick out
other sounds at times, and I couldn't make any out.
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher numbers have now nearly caught up with the
ubiquitous Yellow-rumpeds.
Bird well,
Paul
