We took an afternoon trip out to see the new Battelle-Darby Nature Center, then hiked around the wetland trail loops. Everything was frozen, and there was 3-4 inches of snow in the fields. We saw 5-6 N.Harriers between 4-5 PM, as well as a Kestrel, but no Short-eared owls. We also had several flyover flocks of Canada Geese, including one with a single Snow Goose. Landbirds were very scarce, with 1 Horned Lark, a flock of 9 E. Meadowlarks, and no sparrows at all.
