We've had a couple of clearly inappropriate postings, including one
earlier today. While you can be sure that person won't be posting again,
unfortunately it's quite easy to sign up for a free email account, join
a bunch of listservs, post your ad to all of them, and then abandon the
free email account. While it's possible to switch to a moderated list,
which would require one or more moderators to approve each message
before it's posted, that gets in the way of an easy exchange of
information, and it's quite a bit of work for the moderators. If things
get a lot worse, I guess we'll have to look at that option; but for now,
please just try to ignore posts like the one this morning.
Oh, and I want to thank the readers who emailed me privately about the
problem, instead of posting about it here.
