We had a successful evening at Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area in Wayne County
east of Wooster.
Late in the afternoon we found 5 Harriers, 4 Rough-legged Hawks, and 2
Red-tailed Hawks from near the observation tower (we were actually observing
from the warmth of our car). Nearby there was a Kestrel on Funk Rd. and we
saw both Red-tailed and Rough-legged Hawks on Wilderness Rd. The
Rough-legged put on quite a show for us flying past and hunting over the marsh.
We waited at the observation tower until the sun set and were rewarded by
seeing 4 Short-eared Owls flying far out on the marsh.
