as a warm-up to my magee pilgrimmage
tomorrow morning, i hit the Headlands to
see what i could see.

5:00 -- 57* with VERY strong winds on the
lake from the east, but the sheltered area on
the west of the dunes were ok. i attempted to
venture out the breakwall a bit, but the lack of
birds and ridiculous wind and crashing waves
sent me back landward. i ended my walk at 7:20
as the birding got MUCH better after 6:15. the
greatest number of birds and the variety was
accumulated after said time and the best location
was in the area of the trail closest to the parking
lot on the beach's border with the trees/bushes.
here is my list (i always make sure my numbers
are on the lower, rather than the higher side - so
these numbers could be bugger in reality.

Baltimore Oriole - 15+
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 4
Black and White Warbler - 5+
Gray Catbird - 24+
White-throated Sparrow - 5+
Blue Gray Gnatcatcher - 10+
Eastern Wood Peewee - 1
Yellow Warbler - 3
American Redstart - 19+
Brown Thrasher - 1
Song Sparrow - 4
Chipping Sparrow - 3
Turkey Vulture - 1
Red-headed Woodpecker - 1
Blue-headed Vireo - 2
Northern Mockingbird - 1
Palm Warbler - 9
Eastern Towhee - 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 15+
White-crowned Sparrow - 6
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1
Northern Flicker - 1
Hermit Thrush - 1
Killdeer - 2
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 8+
Veery - 1

Gulls were not in big numbers today as
the winds were pretty strong - i'd estimate
less than 50 seen today - more Herring than
Ring-billed.
Magee @ 6:00 hopefully!!
