The waterfowl show continues here in Delaware. Last night a white-phase Snow
Goose flew north along the Olentangy River with masses of Canada Geese. A
Cackling Goose was tagging along with a single Canada Goose as well.
Today I was at Delaware Wildlife Area when I was told of a Eurasian Wigeon
at Delaware State Park by the ornithology class. The bird was best seen from
the first parking lot after the turn for the beach (which is gated off).
Here is a Google Map: http://tinyurl.com/4mznxxy

The bird had a sparkling orange-red head with white forehead, pale orange
breast, and gray body with a horizontal white line on the fold of the wing,
similar to that of a 'Eurasian' Green-winged Teal. A few of the ornithology
students originally mis-IDed the bird as a Redhead due to superficial
similarities.
Also present were 4 Cackling Geese, along with the following species of
waterbirds were in the area:

American Coot
Canada Goose
Mallard
American Black Duck
Green-winged Teal
Northern Pintail
Gadwall
Wood Duck
American Wigeon
Lesser Scaup
Ring-necked Duck
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser

Good birding,
Sean
