Yesterday made my day, a Chipping Sparrow came to the mealworm feeder that I
have by my back door with the 8 faithful bluebirds I have had since the
fall. I don't think it knew there were mealworms there, it was just
enjoying the company of the bluebirds and searching for food. I typically
don't see any Chippies here in Tiffin until the end of March. I've also
had up to 30 Pine Siskins at the feeders all winter and a Fox Sparrow that I
discovered during the Christmas Bird Count, that has searched for food
beneath the thistle feeder every time the weather became challenging, yes,
it was there for this last snowfall too. Winter may have been tough but the
feeder birds brought a lot of joy.
