At 2:30 yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, I was surprised to hear and then see a
nighthawk calling and circling over the Westerville Community Center at the
intersection of Cleveland Avenue and County Line Road in Westerville, OH.
Afternoon skies were bright and sunny, not the timing or conditions usually
associated with nighthawks. The bird appeared to be feeding and was calling
regularly, one call every few seconds.
