Sister Marty Dermody called moments ago: Garganey still being observed at 1:30. It's taking a
nap along the far shore of Lodge Pond (first large pond on your right as you enter the
complex). About 25 people currently (who are not napping!).
Earlier today I had a Sora near the main visitors center by the red firehydrant adjacient to the
small handicapped parking lot. A few shorebirds: Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary &
Least & Spotted Sandpipers, Killdeer. My FOS Yellow-breasted Chat about halfway between
Lodge Pond and visitors center near a pine grove.
To rearch Fernald: from the west side of Cincinnati, take I-275 to RT. 128 (north) which is the
Miamiville exit. Follow 128 and turn left on Willey Road. Fernald is less than a half mile on
your right. Lodge Pond is the first large pond on your right!
Nice visitors center, FYI, if you need a restroom. Check out the nearby small wetland with
observation deck. Good things have appeared here, too.
