The objective was to check several oak groves south of Grove City (Henceroth and Fryar Parks, Seeds & Burgett Roads), then visit some of the parkland along Darby Creek between Harrisburg and Darbydale, particularly the Pleasant Valley and Osprey Lake accesses of Battelle-Darby MetroPark. I heard then saw the first house wren of the season in the yard today at
lunch. He was already hanging around a nest box I'd just put up this
weekend! Checking my records puts this house wren the earliest by 14 days
in my yard.
