I spent a few hours this morning checking out Alum Reservoir.
The mudflats at Hogback Road were pretty good, though many birds were too
far to identify in the heat. Highlights here include:
-Stilt Sandpipers - 4
-BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER - 1 (in the large dry grassy area near one of the
Osprey platforms)
I also checked out the beach, but couldn't find the reported Laughing Gull.
I did, however, see:
-2 RED KNOTS - feeding on the rocks at the far south end of the beach. They
were both juveniles and very approachable.
Good birding,
John
