During my weekly walk at this Metro Park, just NW of Columbus, I found 2 singing Dickcissels in the area of the frisbee golf course (north part of the park on the marsh hawk trail). The grassland habitat at this park has been getting better the past several years (with lots of management help), and it looks like this could be a bumper year for grassland birds there. Also present along the northern and eastern sections of the Marsh Hawk trail were several Grasshopper Sparrows, and at least 6 male and 3 female Bobolinks- the most I have [...]39_8Jun201210:28:[log in to unmask]

All but one of my Tree Swallows have fledged.  The adults are gone. Now there is a House Sparrow building a nest while the other non-fledged Tree Swallow is still in the nest!  It seems healthy, but not sure how long he can last. Is there anything I can do or just let nature run its course?  Thanks in advance. Spencer
