Ten years ago, I got a phone call from a woman who worked for SWACO at
the Franklin County landfill. The date was 11/20/2003, and she
described what we both thought was likely a whooping crane seen there,
doubtless one of the birds involved in the reintroduction of this
species in the east. I want to cite her name in a publication, but I
have lost the note I made. If you're out there somewhere, give me a shout!
Many thanks,
Bill Whan
