Aaron Boone and I made a day of birding the Toledo area. We had a pretty
good day, and the weather was very cooperative. Here are the highlights:
Oak Openings Metro Park
- 1 PINE GROSBEAK right in the sweet spot on Obee Rd. and 295
- 19 Pine Siskins at the feeders
Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve
- 1 Field Sparrow
- 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE (first year bird north of the boardwalk just east of
Irwin Road)
Secor Metro Park (feeders)
- 1 Common Redpoll
- 1 Fox Sparrow
Woodlawn Cemetery
- 18 Common Redpoll (mixed flock with American Goldfinches, Dark-eyed
Juncos, and Red-breasted Nuthatches all feeding on sweet gum fruits)
Good birding,
John
