Rocky River Park, Rocky River
Observers: Paula Lozano & Jan Ranahan

There are large rafts of birds feeding in the lake at this location. Each group consists of Red-breasted Mergansers, Horned Grebes, Common Loons and Bonaparte's Gulls, with a dozen Bufflehead and a few Ring-billed and Herring Gulls. Using a spotting scope, 50+ grebes and 10-12 loons are easily seen in one field of view.

There were 8 Surf Scoters until a fishing boat and a kayak approached. The scoters were last seen flying east beyond the mouth of the Rocky River.

Paula Lozano
Lakewood, Ohio
