My daughter and I walked the preserve on Cleveland's lakefront yesterday afternoon -- still very large numbers of white-throated and white-crowned sparrows -- I've never seen such large numbers, mostly on the western side of the preserve in a large grassy area. Lesser numbers of song and chipping. Many ruby-crowned and golden-crowned kinglets. Merlin was posing in the large white oak with the dead top by the parking lot when we arrived and when we left. Several winter wrens, 1 house wren, a couple catbirds, many hermit thrushes, a possible orange-crowned warbler, 1 great blue heron, a few blue jays and chickadees, several brown creepers. And lots of lovely sunshine!!!
