I was at Wilderness Road peat pits from 7:15 - 8:15 tonight. There is a
little more water there with the recent rains, which really helps. I
spotted nine species of shorebirds, plus one sora rail working along the
edge. Shorebird species and approximate counts were:
Am. golden plover 5
Killdeer 10
Greater yellowlegs 8
Lesser yellowlegs 4
Spotted sandpiper 4
Sanderling 1
Western sandpiper 1
Least sandpiper 3
Pectoral sandpiper 10
I saw the sanderling and western sandpiper very well and am quite sure of
the ID. Randy Rowe, Wooster
