Very cold and windy, and little movement at Frohring Meadows this late
afternoon. One male kestrel, using the bluebird boxes as perches
from which to hunt, and one or two silent killdeer.
As a sidelight, one headless, dead rabbit was draped over a bluebird
box. Checking the internet, I see that barred owls often eat their prey head
first. So, perhaps an owl was using the boxes as a perch too.
