Greetings All,
Saturday was heckuva great birding day as we arrived into Mobile
County,Alabama . Gliding way overhead the Mobile Tensaw Delta NWR , we saw
a Swallow-tailed Kite gliding over the huge bridge that spans the wetland
area. . Little did we know that about an hour or so later on Dauphin
Island we would receive tips from many birders there that a vagrant, male
adult Painted Redstart would be in our midst. Following the provided
directions we located it and enjoyed observing it as it flitted and
displayed around the oaks-sometimes directly overhead at the Audubon Center
on that island. We will return back to Ohio by next weekend and hopefully
have some photos to share.
Supposedly there are only a very few records of this warbler being seen in
Alabama.
