Howdy all -

Chris Pierce nicely summed up today's highlights at the impoundment.  A single Baird's remained and a Snowy Egret showed up around mid-morning - a youngish-looking rocking a red band on the right leg (a West Sister bird, I'm assuming).  Emil & I found eight warbler sp. in the woodlot inc. a ragged YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, several weeks ahead of schedule.  At Lorain Harbor proper Ruddy Turnstone and two Lesser Black-backed Gulls occupied outer breaskwalls, and three flocks of Sanderlings totaling 25 birds passed.

Also, from 0650-0845 I conducted a lakewatch from home in Sheffield Lake hoping for Sabine's/jaegers/coastal sp. fleaing Irene.  No luck with anything out the ordinary, but a significant movement of Bonaparte's Gulls took place well offshore today - with 1065 birds passing in ~2 hours.  This flight path was well offshore, which made picking out anything rarer that much more strenuous, but basically quite a stunning passage considering the date (Aug 28).

Good birding -
