We have been seeing large numbers of horned grebes around the islands for the last week. Usually we see them singly but have seen as many as a dozen close together at one time. Coming into the State Park Marina on Middle Bass yesterday there were probably thirty horned grebes as well as about a dozen common loons. Have heard loons calling from the Lake as well.
