Paula Lazano, Bob Finklestein and I also tried for the Short-eared Owls, but didn't see any. We were stationed along Hayes Rd (Geauga County) for much of the afternoon until 5:30, couldn't stay any longer.
We did have an accommodating Merlin, about five light morph and one dark morph Rough-legged Hawks and a group of 70+ Snow Buntings.
Interestingly, I saw two Peregrines at Chagrin Blvd.-Northfield corner (this is also the intersection of Warrensville Rd, Cuyahoga Co). They were in flight from the tall apartment building at this corner. I believe these birds have been reported recently.
Seeing an Am Kestrel gave me a three falcon day, all new for the year.
Cheers.
