one juvenile laughing gull, one 1st-cycle LBBG, 2 probable red-nkd.
phalaropes at Clear Fork Reservoir near the dam
laughing gull also seen this "evening" by Anna & Julie Wittmer, when the
gull was along the railing that goes out to the water intake brick
structure
the 2 probable red-necked phalaropes were at the south side of the water
intake structure at the dam
I watched these birds for ~ 20 minutes from the Sail Boat Club, thinking at
first they were debris, but then the birds swam at first to the east, then
to the west. I have seen 1-3 red-nkd. phalaropes out in the middle of CFR
on three other years.
As I stated in my post yesterday about the 2 laughing gulls at CFR, there
are few gulls at CFR most of the day. The majority of the gulls come into
the reservoir about 2-3 hours before sunset. I first saw the laughing gull
this evening at ~ 6 p.m. even though I looked for it/them earlier
Cheers,
John Herman
