While birding our territory on the O'Shaughnessy CBC today, we hit the mother lode of geese in a very easily accessible location. The flock contained nearly 450 Canadas, as well as 2 juvenile Snow Geese, 1 Ross' (or RossXSnow, only the photos will tell), and 1 Cackling. They were in the ponds in the front of the Scotts Lawncare factory southeast of Marysville, along Industrial Way (the road that parallels US 33) just northwest of the intersection/town of Dipple. You can pull off onto the shoulder here and scan the ponds on both sides of the road, although traffic on a weekday might be more brisk than it was today. The ponds are kept open by bubblers, and the nearby lawns are lush (since it is Scotts :-) and inviting to the geese, which were all over them for much of the early afternoon.
