For any young (and less young) birders who might like to participate
in a national ornithological meeting, I suggest you consider the
joint meeting in Pittsburgh, PA between the Wilson Ornithological
Society and the Association of Field Ornithologists. The meeting will
be 9-11 April. I suggest this meeting because these meetings are "low-
key" and friendly. Last year about half of the presentations were by
undergraduate and graduate students, and many others were by
"amateur" ornithologists and birders. It is a good opportunity to
meet and make connections with birders (many ornithologists are
birders) from all over the country. This meeting has the added
advantage of being nearby.
